Sourwood Farm
Sourwood Farm is a small honeybee farm run by Ryan Williamson focusing on breeding healthy productive mite resistant bees, high-quality wildflower honey, beeswax candles and beekeeper education. Ryan runs a full time hand-on beekeeping and intensive selective breeding program on his small farm in Central Virginia. He actively manages and evaluates colonies year-round, applying research-driven selection criteria to breed for gentle, productive bees with demonstrated resistance to Varroa mites. Each spring Sourwood Farm offers nucleus colonies and queens raised exclusively from carefully selected mite-resistant breeder stock. Honey and candles are available online and in the Charlottesville Virginia area
Through YouTube and Facebook channels, Ryan shares unique practical skills, breeding methodology, experiments, and interesting observations from the apiary. Ryan also travels to give in-depth educational presentations for beekeeping associations, workshops, and conferences.
