Slow Living | Stone Cabin | Life in the Cottian Alps
We are realizing our dream of a house in Italy!
We are two retired professionals, Gin was an architect and Linda had a career in academics, who developed a love for Italy from our university days in Rome and Florence many decades ago.
Our project aspires to breathe new life into this centuries old stone cabin, or "baita" - to bring a new vitality to this spot of land on the lower slopes of the Cottian Alps while respecting the heritage and traditions of this valley.
In the design of the cabin, the exterior will follow the traditional vernacular of stone and timber construction.
In the same way we hope to give the restoration project the love and attention that it deserves, we hope to curate a visual artifact of the process of this restoration - and subsequent life at the cabin - that is equally beautiful and enduring on this channel.
