Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences New Brunswick
The School of Arts and Sciences is the academic heart and soul of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and provides an education of uncommon breadth and depth. With more than 750 faculty, forty departments, and more than fifty centers supporting interdisciplinary scholarship, the School combines superb teaching with world-class research in an environment of remarkable cultural diversity. Rutgers College was founded in 1776 as Queens College and renamed for Revolutionary war hero and benefactor Henry Rutgers in 1825; SAS, the direct descendant of this original liberal arts college, was created in 2007 by merging Douglass, Livingston, Rutgers, and University colleges into one school comprising students and faculty.
