Batala Washington is an all-women drum band playing Afro-Brazilian music as part of a worldwide project promoting and sharing dynamic samba reggae rhythms from the vibrant city of Salvador, Bahia.

Batalá Mundo was created in 1997 by Giba Gonçalves. Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia in Brazil, Giba was living in Paris when he first had the idea for the band.
