Jackson Hole Hootenanny
The Jackson Hole Hootenanny was founded by Bill Briggs and Dick Barker on February 16, 1993, at Dornan’s Spur Bar in Moose, Wyoming. The Hoot has typically met most Monday evenings except during November and April. We celebrated our 1300th Hootenanny on January 30, 2023.
From the beginning, the Hoot has been all acoustic, traditional, modern, and original folk music in a concert-like setting where the audience is strongly encouraged not to speak when someone is performing on stage. The Hoot brings together a wide range of talents in a non-judgmental setting. Plus, there is always a very enthusiastic audience.
Currently the Hoot meets during summers outside at Dornan’s Chuck Wagon Pavilion and during winters inside at the Wort Hotel Silver Dollar Showroom. Many Hoots are streamed live via YouTube.com. The best way to find out about the Hoot and to access more than 1000 hours of recorded, live, unscripted, all acoustic, folk music is at JHhootenanny.org.
