We've all inherited frameworks — theological systems, doctrinal confessions — and without realizing it, we read the text looking for confirmation rather than encounter. The result is a slow disconnection from the living voice of the text.
Refining Exegetics exists for people who have sensed that something is off — who have mouthed the confessions, defended the positions, and still felt the absence of something real underneath.
The work here is this: before we interpret, we listen. Before we systematize, we hear. We go back to the text — to its language, its world, its author's situation — and we do the work of crossing that distance until the text can say what it actually says.
Because you cannot interpret what you haven't heard correctly.
That's what exegesis is - the patient, rigorous act of relocating yourself into the author's world — until the words land the way they were meant to.
