“We’re no longer in the orange skies and instead [we] are wading in deep waters.”
Her Tangerine EP’s wide-eyed sweetness was sharpened by her COVID-19 pandemic reckoning. Lunadira emerged from it still grappling with existential questions but more aware of herself and her main catharsis, songwriting.
In her forthcoming debut album “i’ll be alright, right?“, she shows weariness with a thin veil of hope and a familiar melancholia that’s heavy to feel but easy to bop to. She shows her artistic growth by balancing on this tightrope.
Despite her changes, Lunadira retains her tender vulnerability. She shifts between r’n’b, garage, and grunge to create pop’s eclectic, moving, and sultry sound.
She gains fans by admitting to feeling unmoored. Lunadira has questions, too. Through her introspection, we see the parts of ourselves who also struggle; just like her, we want to know whether we’ll be alright.
