Whale Circus is a Beijing based music project led by independent musician Li Xingyu. The act strikes a unique balance between the intricacy of ambient, minimalistic post-rock and the soundscapes of modern electronic productions. The music of Whale Circus often leads listeners’ minds to wander into journeys of fantasy and scenes of wonderment. The band’s live performance as a 6-piece comprises keyboard, drums, guitar, bass, violin and cello, an outfit in which the band’s dynamics really come to life. The band’s sound can veer broadly from the quiet of a night sky to the chaos of thunderstorms.
