SAY Detroit
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, SAY Detroit has provided pathways to success for Detroiters in need since 2006, when its founder Mitch Albom wrote a series of columns criticizing the city’s plan to provide a three-day “Super Bowl party” for its homeless while tourists were in town. A city that is super just for a weekend isn’t very special come Monday, so we sought to raise enough to at least help all year long. The idea of SAY Detroit is in its letters: Super. All. Year.
Through learning, health care and housing programs, SAY Detroit is home to a free family health clinic; an after-school learning center (SAY Detroit Play Center); a housing program for working families (Working Homes / Working Families); volunteer efforts (A Time to Help) and more for Detroit's youth, seniors, veterans and other vulnerable populations.
It also supports local partner charities with funds raised at the annual December Radiothon, broadcast live on WJR (760 AM) from Somerset Collection in Troy, MI.
