Brett Boles
I'm Brett Boles, a musical theatre songwriter and educator with 25 years in the industry, including 15 years in the Tony-Honored BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.
My work has been produced by Tony/Emmy winners, staged in New York and London, and performed by many Broadway artists including Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz.
This channel is about how theatre songs actually work. Every video digs into the craft underneath the music — lyric writing, melody, prosody, character, structure — using numbers from shows we love to see what makes them land.
You'll get analysis that goes past "this part is pretty" into the choices that turn story into a song audiences remember.
Deep into your first score or your tenth, you'll find tools here to write with confidence and always know where the song wants to go.
